162 doctors were killed by Sars-CoV-2 in the months of March and April 2020. The National Federation of Orders of Surgeons and Dentists records them on their website, remembering their name and activity. On July 15, 2020, Fnopi, the National Federation of Nursing Professions Orders, published a study accounting for 40 nurses who died from the new coronavirus. Amongst them, four nurses who tested positive for the new coronavirus who took their own life. On May 4, 2020, Inail (National institute providing assitance to people suffering accidents while workin) published a report certifying 129 reports of accidents with a fatal outcome linked to Covid-19, 38.9% of which related to the health and social assistance sector.
By using Protezione civile’s open data, Wired journalist Gianluca Dotti calculated in 10.31 euros a day the cost to provide health workers with personal protective equipment. The weekly integrated surveillance bulletin of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità on May 7th, 2020 accounted for 21,293 health workers who tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 as of 30 April, accounting for 10.5% of the total national cases. Cases which, as the data collected by Pazienti dimenticati show, are not at all distributed homogeneously throughout the national territory. But they reflect, as expected, the spread of the pandemic on the national territory.
